Find Your Music Team

Most of us have said something like, "That's just the way I am." Sometimes we say it with confidence. Sometimes with resignation. Over time, those words begin to feel less like an observation and more like a fact.

The stories we tell ourselves about who we are often begin long before we realise it. Some are shaped by people who knew us as children. Others by a teacher's comment, an early success, a disappointment, or a role we found ourselves playing for so long that it became part of our identity. Before long, we stop seeing them as stories at all. We simply accept them as who we are.

There is nothing wrong with knowing yourself. In fact, self-awareness is one of the greatest gifts we can develop. The challenge comes when we mistake an old version of ourselves for the person we are still becoming. We continue making decisions through a lens that may no longer reflect who we are today.

One of the quieter forms of Noise is believing that because something was true about us once, it must always be true. "I'm not creative." "I'm not a leader." "I'm not confident." "I've always been..." These quiet conclusions have a way of becoming invisible boundaries, shaping what we pursue, what we avoid and what we believe is possible.

Listening for your Music isn't about becoming someone different. It's about allowing yourself to become more fully yourself. As we grow, our experiences shape us, our perspectives deepen and our Music develops with us. The question is whether we've given ourselves permission to notice.

Perhaps one of the most freeing questions we can ask ourselves is this:

Who told me that's who I am... still?
